2026 Head Football Coaching Changes

Carbon Hill - D.J. Emerson exits Carbon Hill after three seasons with a record of just 2-28. The Bulldogs have been through thirteen head coaches since the 2000 season and will be hoping to grab the right hire and build a football program at the school.

2026 Season - Jarrett Tuggle

Greensboro - Deon Washington leaves Greensboro after three seasons where his teams finished a combined 9-21. The Raiders will be in search of new head coach for the seventh time in the past ten years.

2026 Season - Vacant

Hillcrest Evergreen - Justin Nared leaves Hillcrest after three season with a 14-17 record and just one playoff appearance for the Jaguars. Hillcrest will be in search of their fifth head coach in the last seven seasons in Evergreen.

2026 Season - Davern Williams is a former NFL player with the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants. He played college ball at Troy University. Following his playing career, Williams served as an assistant coach at Troy, Mississippi Community College and most recently at Louisiana-Monroe.

Horseshoe Bend - Jeremy Phillips exits Horseshoe Bend after seven seasons including 0-10 in his final year at the helm. The Generals will be looking to the future with their next hire in hopes of rebuilding the football program.

2026 Season - Shenan Motley resigned his position at Beauregard in April to almost immediately accept the head coach job at Horseshoe Bend. Motley was a state championship winning coach at Wadley and hopefully will bring that winning attitude to the Generals football program.

Houston County - Tanner Harris leaves Houston County after just two seasons following a 1-9 season in 2025. The Lions won the first game of the season before losing the next nine. Coach Harris' first team at Houston County looked promising with a 6-5 record and a playoff spot.

The Lions will now be in search of their fifth head coach in eight years. They have not won a playoff game since the 2004 football season.

2026 Season - BJ Chitty was a Northview High football standout who had a strong career on the Troy football team. He was hired to replace Coach Harris at Houston County in December. This will be his first shot as a head football coach.

Midfield - Rod Isaac leaves Midfield after serving fifteen seasons as the head coach at the school. His overall record stands at 76-75 including ten playoff appearances. The Patriots were 3-6 in 2025.

2026 Season - Lavert Andrews was the baseball coach at Minor before accepting the head coaching job at Midfield in March. Andrews was an assistant football coach at both Midfield and Ramsay before moving to Minor.

Andrews is an Ensley High School and Miles College graduate, where he also played football.

Randolph County - Pat Prestridge decided to retire in April after twenty seasons as the head football coach at Randolph County. When Coach Prestridge took the job at Randolph County in 2001 he had big shoes to fill replacing the legendary Ron Watters.

Over the years Coach Prestridge did not let the Tigers fans down winning 184 games and a state championship in 2003.

2026 Season - Vacant

Saks - Shannon Felder exits after a single season at Saks that saw the Wildcats finish with a disappointing 1-9 record. Following the 2022 football season Jonathan Miller left for Piedmont and since that time the Wildcats have won a total of four games in three seasons.

2026 Season - Michael Easley took little time to leave Munford for the job at Saks. He spent seven seasons at Munford that produced a 25-46 record and only a single playoff appearance.

Section - Riley Edwards coached Section the past three seasons with a 6-34 record.

2026 Season - Ian Richards is the Rainsville native and 2014 Plainview High School alum's first head-coaching job. Richards began his coaching career at Crossville before serving three years as an assistant coach at Sylvania followed by two seasons on the coaching staff at Plainview.

After one season at Section as defensive coordinator, Richards returned to Sylvania as defensive coordinator last season.

Southside Selma - Charles Moody Jr.

2026 Season - Josh Thacker
